The Camel Experience

The first thing that comes to our mind every time we mention camel is the Middle East, it is because they are more associated with the Arab world.
Do you know that?
-         It can run up to 65 km/h or 40 mph.
-         Humps are actually reservoir of fatty tissue and not water as we (or maybe i?) commonly believed.

-          It can withstand temperature from 34 °C (93 °F) at night and up to 41 °C (106 °F) during the day, whew!
-          Milk is rich in vitamins (too much vitamin c!), minerals, proteins and immunoglobins .
-          Fats and cholesterol fat are lower  than cow’s milk.
-          There are companies now that make soap out of camel’s milk (hmm..better than bathing the milk itself ;) )
-          Skins are made into leather goods which are durable and soft and have an ability to stretch.

Being an expat, life in UAE will not be complete without this Camel Experience.
Here are some suggestions I have for you:
-          Try riding a camel. Yes, it might look scary and seems like smelly but why not? It just for experience. Enjoy the ride dear.
-          Buy a milk or chocolate made of camel’s milk. Hmm…this one is a better experience.
-          Look for a meat shop where they sell meat and google a good recipe.
-          Why not own a bag or shoes made of camel’s suede? Beware, it might be expensive.
-          Lather yourself with camel’s soap.
-          Take a photo of yourself with a camel beside you or maybe a background and frame it.
Isn’t it fun yet? Go out and enjoy UAE!

Best Shawarma on the Block

When i first came here in Dubai, my sister asked me to taste the famous shawarma which is easily found on every street of UAE.

Shawarma is basically like a sandwich but it is a wrapped or rolled thin bread, filled with shaved meat (lamb, chicken, turkey, beef) or fish. A variety of vegetables such as cucumber, potato fries, lettuce, tomato, onion, chilli pepper (according to your taste) are added to the filling and a garlic paste , yoghurt or mayo. It is a fast-food staple across the Arab countries and India.

But finding the best shawarma is the exciting part. You have to walk around the block and every street to find the best one. My cousin however, found one along Salahuddin Street in Dubai as they used to lived in that area. Sweet fresh cook bread and the freshly grilled meat or fish is really appetizing. Pickled vegetables add to a great taste. What's more, shawarma is very cheap and tasty. Buy your favorite drink with it and you're done.
So where's the best shawarma in your block? Go ahead pick your friends and find your best shawarma on your block. Just don't forget to share it with me coz I might drop by that place and have a taste.

enjoy!
